Chapter 5 - How Much Do You Need To Eat To Get To Your Goal?
|
October 3, 2007:
Correction to Page 20 - Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
Estimation of BMR: Men should use this equation. You get slightly more freedom in your calorie intake for
being a guy:
Males: body weight X 10 + (body weight x 2) = estimated BMR
That is, multiply your body weight by 10, then add double your body weight
Example: say you weigh 200 pounds, then your estimated BMR is 200 x 10 + (200 x 2) = 2000+400 = 2400
calories
Females: body weight x 10 = estimated BMR
Examples: say you weigh 150 pounds then your estimated BMR is 150 x 10 = 1500 calories
You have to remember that these are just estimates. When you start dieting, and find you are not losing any
weight, then you need to adjust your calories down and/or increase your physical activity.
